The Katz Bat Mitzvah at the Turnip Rose, Costa Mesa

Hannah Katz had her Bat Mitzvah at the Celebrations Room in Costa Mesa, which is under the Turnip Rose Umbrella, and it was a very magical afternoon. If you havn’t had a chance to check out this location yet please go see it and talk to Chrissy Sherbanee who is the Director of Special Events, and if your short on time watch the video, because I was trying to caputre every angle possible. Chrissy and her staff are amazing and the effort they make will create a really smooth event. The Tasty Sounds crew are alway on top of it, but these guys take it to the next level, (in a good way). Also on the party was one of our favorite Photographers Ron Levy, who always makes our day much easier. Go check out his website, and yes he’s in Orange County, but all my Los Angeles people should be checking him out, he’s that good. And finally Hannah & the whole Katz gang, what a great family. Hannah is like a young Selena Gomez, very poised throughout the whole day, not a misstep (even in 7 inch heels). Mazel Tov to everyone involved, including one of my new DJ’s, Francis (aka Nemcis1) who recently moved here from Hawaii (an amazing battle/Scratch DJ) who got to participate in his very first Mitzvah. Ben Dynes Bar Mitzvah @ UCI Club

Yet another successful event at the UCI Club in Irvine, with the amazing Cindy Lee heading the venue. This time it was for Ben Dynes Kung Fu Mitzvah on August 6, 2011. This was a great party. Brian took the front man position, while I spun on the decks. When we started out with our follow-along dance, there was not one person sitting. Everybody was participating and having a Fun time. That’s how we like to start all of our parties. The Minieri family were great to work for, along with all their family and friends who attended. We even came up with a mod on our “DUEL” game Karate Kid style. Enjoy our video with the Tasty tune “Let’s Dance & Stuff” (David Bowie & Deadmau5).

A Web Celebs Sweet Video

Sometimes I come across something so creative I just have to step back and breathe. Can you imagine coming home after working your hard job and getting back to work on your video project that is this complicated. Kina Grannis, 26 did just that with this video using 288,000 jelly beans and a concept idea by director Greg Jardin. Production was very intense for each of the 2,460 individual frames, and a crew had to build a jelly bean portrait out of thousands of jelly beans which Grannis would then lay down on a piece of glass mounted over the jelly beans. The topper to this video is that the song is really great, and I will definitely add it to the Tasty Sounds play-lists.

Corporate Holiday Lunch

Sidley & Austin LLP has a holiday luncheon every year, usually at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles, and since their offices are right across the street this is a good combo for them. Usually holiday lunches are a more low key event and you tend to focus on the raffles and the networking, but if you plan ahead and (have us) you can still create a great energy. This firm loves the contests and they are very good at coming up with many of the contests we have used in the past, I even remember one year we had a Jenga contest. The holiday committee bought about 30 Jenga games, and put them at each table, and then after making up some ground rules we had a massive Jenga contest, it was pretty fun. How many different ideas do we have here at Tasty Sounds for a holiday party besides dancing, well to many to print here so call us.

If you watch the video below you will see last years event, and you will see a Blues Brothers Tribute, the Managing Partner Speech, Cocktails, awards and what is that … DANCING! Yes even without a dance floor (we had a stage) people can’t stop the impulse of dancing to our music. Oh and yes we found much better use for Hot Chocolate’s “You Sexy Thing” than a Swifter commercial, in fact it’s mashed up with Bruno Mars and it’s extremely TASTY as the background track.

Dolby Sound Holiday Party

Dolby Labs in Burbank are a group of super smart engineers and around the holidays they want to have fun just like everyone else. They had their event, last December at the Equestrian Center in Burbank, a beautiful location for any significant event. I created a few well planned games like our “Blitz of Hitz” and our new game “Karaoke Wars” which made this event spectacular.

In the game “Blitz of Hitz” we have the tables compete against each other by having the table your sitting at listening to our custom clip and trying to guess the most artists and songs in that 1 minute clip. Sounds easy, but it’s not, and in 10 years nobody has guessed them all right. In that 1 minute clip we play about 35 songs, with about 5 famous movie lines and some random stuff thrown in, and you have about 3 minutes to conference with your table and write them down on the pad of paper we provided. We have about 4 diffrent categories (50′s, 80′s, Disco & Rock), and this is a great way to get everybody to know each other before dinner and break the ice. You would think a company like Dolby Sounds would rule at this, but alas they where very normal.

Karaoke Wars was pretty easy, I threw random artist into a hat, Sinatra, Elvis, Gaga, Katy Perry, Michael, Madonna, Aretha, etc… and if you want to compete for the top prize you must reach in to the hat and sing what you grab. Sounds easy? Not really since you might grab someone you love, but most likely you’ll be singing Vanilla Ice, but man is it fun to watch. For a charge we bring our 7×10 screen and our 7000 song Karaoke library and you can sit back and watch the carnage begin. This is way better way to watch Karaoke, instead of being tortured by a bunch of wannabe’s who take thier selves way to seriously, this way people get to have some real fun. Harbor Day Family Festival

I have handled the “Harbor Day School” family festival for 5 years with all sorts of fun from Kindergarten to 8th Grade. Sack Races, Water Balloon Toss, and of course Limbo. 3 Energy Filled Monday Nights

So if you need an energy boost I suggest hanging out with 300 students after a week of leadership camp, which is what I got to do for 3 Monday’s in July. So technically I entertained 900 students of the NYLF , a camp for Student leaders all over america, who at the end of a week long intensive leadership camp got to let off some steam with a Dinner & Dance. These young adults, from different states, backgrounds, worlds danced non stop and kept the energy up for over 3 hours. Check out the video and enjoy the ENERGY.

Jacob Kupperman’s Bar Mitzvah at UCI Club

We just got ahold of the photos from Jacob’s Bar Mitzvah, courtesy of Sharon Pulcino of Creative Visions Photography – 714-838-9996 and they capture all the energy and excitement of that special evening. The event went real smooth thanks to the efforts of Cindy Lee at the UCI Club in Irvine, and of course the family Barry, Jantana, Jacob and their fireball little brother were equally easy to work for. We did play a few games that everyone knows like “LIMBO” and “Scavenger Hunt/Musical Chairs” but we also included a game you may ot see very often at other Mitzvah’s called “DUEL” which is a tricky version of the 2 man tug-o-war, great for Girls, Boys, & Men!

The Final Flietman Bar Mitzvah

We have handled 3 out 4 Flietman Boy’s Bar Mitzvah’s, and Jack was the Final one this year at Prego Restaurant in Irvine. On a side not this is a really great place to have a party in Orange County, it has a great vibe and what a great change from the no window ballrooms were always in. So Jacks theme was Hockey, (Our first hockey party since our “Stanley Cup Party for the Ducks), and I decided to come up with a new game to work with his theme and Presto we created the “Hockey Challenge“, similar to our Basketball Free Throw, and our Quarterback Challenge, but I think much trickier and harder, (watch the video to see it). This was also the first time we added DJ Dayna to the mixx and she added that cool girl DJ vibe we are always looking for. And finally the hockey puck inspired cupcakes were some of the best cupcakes around, truly TASTY; I will post that info when i get it. So Hats or Hockey helmets off to the Flietman’s, especially Margie who has been one of our biggest supporters in the OC, and we hope to see them at many more upcoming events.

Grad Parties for Kenter Canyon, Topeka & Aliso Viejo – 2010

Well it took me almost a year to get these images up (next round of Grad parties already coming up real soon!) but if you want to watch what Tasty Tunes, Cool Kids and good planning will get you… then enjoy. This was our 5th Event for the Kenter Canyon Elementary Charter School, our 2nd Event for Jane Kluck and Aliso Viejo Middle School and our 1st one for Evette Knight and Topeka Elementary in Northridge.
